Happy November, Distinctive Schools family! We are having a great fall so far- here are some highlights from the last month:
Our schools hosted a variety of fun events such as Fall Fests, Hispanic Heritage celebrations, Halloween parades, Zumba nights, International Night, and more! It is so important to us to build strong communities for our students- our schools are doing just that.
We hosted high school fairs in both Illinois and Michigan, our Distinctive 8th graders had a chance to meet with representatives from high schools in their area and explore their interests! These fairs also included alumni panels and discussions about the high school application process. So excited to see all the wonderful things these scholars will accomplish!
This month we launched our very first Distinctive Schools Learner Advisory – elevating and promoting the voices of over 40 learners from all 9 Distinctive campuses in Chicago and Metro Detroit. We discussed the importance of Belonging, and how it impacts our learning. Relationships & culture are at the heart of all that we do at DS, and it was great to hear from our most important stakeholders – our kids! Special thanks to Dr. Tammy Campbell and The Scholar First for the inspiration to launch!
